An Update From Aqilla ~ Accounting software for the 21st Century

LONDON September 2007: LONDON: Aqilla is a new web based accounting solution utilising state of the art open source toolsets based around Java and AJAX Web 2.0 technologies.

This month saw Aqilla achieve a number of key milestones. The third demonstration version of the application was completed on time and to plan – interested parties can now get a real feel for how the application is structured and will work when released at the end of 2007.

Furthermore a PowerPoint presentation walking through salient benefits and features of Aqilla is available for download along with a Web 2.0 Accounting article covering the latest release.

Robert Davies FCA, an experienced CFO, commented that in addition to end users migrating to a secure “On Demand” solution, there exists a further opportunity for smaller accounting firms to put their clients on the systems. “It would give smaller SMEs access to monthly management accounts without having to employ full time accountants and create a business opportunity for the accounting firm at the same time”.

Colin Christianson, Director at Aqilla concluded: “We are delighted our hard work over the last year is bearing good results. From a set of ideas and tools, we now have a real product to work with. We look forward to welcoming users, partners and professionals to the world of Aqilla over the coming months”.

Note to editors:

Aqilla was created in 2006 by two highly respected industry figures who together have over 50 years of experience of the accounting and business software industry. Aqilla is developing a completely new web based accounting solution utilising state of the art open source toolsets based around Java and AJAX technology (techniques seen in other Web 2.0 sites such as Google Mail or Digg.com).

Aqilla’s products provide organisations with a proper zero deployment and highly scalable “On Demand” offering that is accessible anywhere, anytime through a rich web browser interface. By the extensive use of Web Services, functionality and information may be exposed to, or retrieved from, external systems in a simple and open manner providing true interoperability and a significant reduction in the burden of implementation and the management of business change. Furthermore the opportunity exists to provide an externally hosted solution and to be able to switch to an internally hosted system or vice versa with no disruption to the end users.
