Outright Games is a leading worldwide video game publisher of family-friendly interactive entertainment. Partnering with big names such as Sony, Dreamworks and Nickelodeon, Outright Games is a fast-paced business with huge growth potential.
Since its launch in 2016, Outright Games has expanded its global presence to three offices in Los Angeles, Madrid, and the UK, and has a global distribution across 25 countries. In early 2020, it was clear that they’d outgrown their existing accounting software, Quickbooks, which couldn’t deliver the sophisticated reporting required by investors.
Business Analyst, Andrew Bryant, joined the team to implement a new accounting system that would be easy to introduce and easy to scale in this fast-paced, high-growth environment. Aqilla ticked all the boxes with its flexible reporting features, process automation, and ease of implementation.
“I have worked with bigger systems like SAP and, while they serve a wider business purpose, if all you need is a finance system, Aqilla is very impressive in its functionality. It is quick to implement, has a low cost of maintenance and it’s more versatile than you might expect from a mid-range system. We were surprised and extremely impressed when we evaluated Aqilla’s performance capability against other systems.”
Having made the decision to go with Aqilla, the new system went live in just six weeks. Although Aqilla was on hand to support the implementation, Andrew found most of the setup doable on his own. He also finds it is easy to onboard new hires.
“Implementing Aqilla is a relatively straightforward process. I knew when I saw it that I could do most of the work myself. With Aqilla, you are simply adjusting the configuration, there isn’t any coding involved and you don’t need extensive project planning or expensive implementation experts. We put it in over six weeks.” – Andrew Bryant
Aqilla supports ready-made and customised reporting via Sharperlight and Excel add-ins making it an incredibly versatile and high-performing mid-range accounting solution.
“All our reporting is done through Sharperlight. It’s a really robust BI tool that integrates with Aqilla, allowing you to create reports from the data in any way you need. The management reporting pack is accurate and in line with business needs, and if other stakeholders need to see information in a different way, new reports can be easily created. Also, the Excel add-ins are great for designing templates for invoices and purchase orders.” – Andrew Bryant
With three entities and a worldwide audience, Outright Games needed multi-company and multi-currency support. This comes as standard with Aqilla with extensive multi-currency capabilities throughout its ledgers, and support for any number of companies. This makes Aqilla particularly good for growing businesses that need an accounting solution that can scale.
“Aqilla is a good solution for groups of companies with overseas subsidiaries. Each entity is set up to mimic the others so that consolidation is consistent with a simple currency adjustment at the end. This also makes it highly scalable.”
