Aqilla’s new AI-enhanced automation feature
E2D is Aqilla’s new AI-enhanced invoice automation feature, built entirely in-house as a core part of Aqilla’s finance and accounting platform. E2D strengthens the system’s Accounts Payable automation capabilities, and removes the hassle of entering invoices manually or requiring external tools.
The new feature allows users to capture structured data directly from electronic invoices, replacing manual invoice capture processes with automation. As part of the new feature development, Aqilla has adopted strict AI usage principles that were put in place to integrate AI components into Aqilla only when solving specific user pain points.
The result? E2D’s workflow delivers automation and efficiency, and AI technology is used to assign a confidence score made visible to the user as guidance and recommendations. This allows users to choose how automation behaves – either by straight-through processing data with high AI confidence scores or performing manual checks only when necessary.
E2D is cutting data entry time by approximately 2 times so companies processing 100+ invoices each month can expect to save upwards of 1 day per month.
Software Leader Of The Year: Charis Thomas shortlisted
Charis Thomas, Chief Product Officer at Aqilla has been shortlisted for Software Leader of the Year at the AI & Software Development Awards.
During her time at Aqilla, Charis has reshaped Aqilla’s software development culture. Not only is Charis responsible for AI features delivery at Aqilla, but she has a background in accounting, which provides the business with invaluable insights, and allows us to ensure that Aqilla truly meets the requirements of our users. Under her leadership, the development team created an API-driven framework which accelerated development cycles, improved scalability and laid the foundations for Aqilla’s new AI-powered invoice automation capability – E2D.
Charis and her team have now changed how finance and accounting teams operate as a result of automating invoice capture and reducing manual intervention. Customers using E2D have reported significant reductions in per-invoice handling time, improved accuracy, and smoother workflows.
In many cases, E2D is now replacing third-party OCR solutions, allowing accounting and finance teams to consolidate invoice processing within Aqilla’s core platform. Those teams now spend more time focusing on high-value analysis and decision-making, rather than repetitive, time-consuming administrative tasks. This makes AI a valued support for critical human thinking – not a replacement.
At Aqilla, we’re delighted that our efforts are being recognised outside of the business.
